Olivedale is at the forefront of healthcare in South Africa — and we are proud to say we have reached that goal by following one simple rule:
"The Patient Comes First."
We look forward to welcoming you to our hospital and caring for you. We will endeavour to do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable, friendly and informative as possible.
1993 to 1998: Private Ownership
Olivedale opened its doors on the 1 April 1993 as a 180-bed community hospital. It was proudly owned by Gustav Pansegrouw, Kosie Pansegrouw and Richard Wostenholm. Undoubtedly the key to Olivedale’s success is the quality of specialists and staff that were recruited into the hospital. The equipment in the hospital compliments this outstanding team to create what we believe to be one of the leading private hospitals in South Africa.
In 1997 Olivedale expanded the bed capacity to a 250-bed operation boasting all specialities including Cardiothoracics, Neurosurgery and extremely advanced radiological diagnostic equipment. In all this time continuing to focus on our simple rule – “The Patient Comes First.”
On the 1 January 1998 Olivedale Clinic was acquired by Excel Medical Holdings, a newly listed company on the JSE.
